Experts explain why Medvedev’s scandalous post was returned to Twitter

The April post of Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev returned to Twitter (blocked in Russia). The politician’s thoughts that Poland should not exist for Russia were first censored – access to the post was limited, but as soon as Medvedev got indignant, moreover, in the space of Russian social networks, Twitter admins restored justice. All restrictions have now been removed from this entry.

“This tweet violates the Twitter Rules. However, Twitter employees have decided not to block access to it, as it may be of public interest,” the social network said in a statement.

What exactly did Medvedev write about in that scandalous post? In short, the politician remembered the Polish mercenaries in Ukraine and stressed that Poland should not exist for the Russian Federation, while only Russophobes are in power there. Later, he said that the display of this post was limited, and republished the message in the Russian account.

“In my opinion, under Elon Musk, Twitter has become more loyal to Russia,” says political scientist Irina Politova. – The new owner of the social network knowingly said that he wants to turn it into a platform for clash of different points of view. And although formally it still acts in the interests of the American establishment, it has long been chosen by Sergei Mironov and Dmitry Rogozin. To date, this is perhaps the only foreign social network where access has been preserved for those who support diametrically opposed positions.

“Almost every second person on Twitter talks about how he hates Russians,” notes blogger Stanislav Zhernov. – If I had not been forced to look for content for my public there, I would not have gone there. But among all this Russophobia, I came across notes from other authors who do not hate our government, our laws and our people. That is, if you wish, you can still find “their own” there.
