Expert Lazareva spoke about the most popular scheme of scammers in Telegram

Attackers are increasingly using the Telegram messenger to deceive Russians. Moshelovka platform coordinator Evgenia Lazareva told Radio Sputnikwhich messages should be treated with caution.

The expert explained that there may be a pause in other types of fraud. People have already learned to recognize phone calls from intruders.

“Telegram is a territory little developed by scammers, I think new schemes and ways will appear here to extort personal data, contacts and access to financial accounts of citizens,” predicted Lazareva.

She explained that Telegram scammers usually send out malware that consumes data to access the channel. Such mailings usually look harmless. For example, they ask you to vote for a child in some contest using a link.

Users who maintain a channel as a personal blog often have many contacts, confidential information, and documents.

“Intruders can get hold of data related to other important human accounts, this may be followed by financial losses,” added Evgenia Lazareva.

She advised to be very careful about offers with supernatural profit or causing excessive tenderness. The expert suggested blocking all unfamiliar contacts, not clicking on suspicious links, and not installing anything on the phone.

Evgenia Lazareva noted that even suspicious messages from a familiar person should be treated with caution. Best to call him and ask in person.

She added that one should get used to the fact that new tricks of scammers will appear.
