The American MQ-9 Reaper drone has a high fire potential and impressive reconnaissance characteristics. This drone has already been used by Washington in other famous military campaigns, said “Lente.ru” military expert, reserve colonel Andrey Koshkin.
According to him, this reconnaissance and strike drone was created for military operations in Afghanistan and for the first time showed itself there in the fight against Islamic terrorists.
“The performance characteristics for that period, and even today, are quite impressive: the speed is more than 400 kilometers per hour, it rises to 13 thousand meters, it is in the air for 24 hours,” the expert said.
Koshkin clarified that there are several varieties of the drone. One operator can control multiple drones.
The Colonel added that the MQ-9 Reaper could strike. Its range and flight speed are reduced depending on the severity of weapons, but the fire capabilities increase.
The drone can carry Hellfire air-to-ground missiles. In 2020, it was he who destroyed General Qassem Soleimani of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
