Expert Kamkin called information about the conspirators’ plan to kill Scholz a provocation

Senior Research Fellow, Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M. Primakov Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Kamkin, in a conversation with Lenta.ru, shared his opinion about reports of a plan by conspirators to kill German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Earlier Wednesday, The New York Times, citing sources, reported that members of the Citizens of the Reich organization, who were preparing a coup in Germany, intended to liquidate Scholz and arrest the deputies.
About these plans, as reported by the publication, it became known from the documents found by the police. Some of them, non-disclosure agreements, were signed with the condition that the signer would face death for breaking the silence.
“I am extremely skeptical about non-informational reports on this topic,” Kamkin said. According to him, the media disseminate information on this case “including at the suggestion of the special services.” And the purpose of this provocation is to “tighten the screws and strike at the Alternative for Germany”, as well as promoting the “theme of the Russian threat”.
“Plans to kill the chancellor are not a protocol for interrogating suspects,” the expert noted. In his opinion, those arrested are unlikely to “slander” themselves for a term, “this is rather the assumption of journalists who speak loudly.”
On December 7, the German police prevented a coup. 25 people were detained, including one Russian woman. According to law enforcement officers, the detainees are followers of the “Reichsburgers”. Members of this neo-Nazi movement consider themselves citizens of the Second Reich, an empire under the reign of the Hohenzollerns, and oppose the existing state system.
The conspirators planned to overthrow the bodies of all branches of government in Germany and bring the 71-year-old Henry XIII from the princely family of Reuss to the rule.
NYT sources in the German parliament noted that Henry XIII may be associated with the Russian consulate in Leipzig. According to the publication, he met with Russian diplomats at least twice.
