Turkey remains the most popular destination for outbound tourism for Russians – as Dmitry Gorin, vice president of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry, explained during a round table at the MK press center, such popularity is primarily due to well-organized air traffic.
“Today, a Russian tourist has 35 countries for non-stop flights. The leader is obvious – Turkey: 5.2 million people went there last year, plans for this year are no less. The number of flights has been increased: there are flights to Turkey from 18 cities of the Russian Federation. The popularity is not decreasing: during the peak tourist season, in July and August, up to 1,200 flights are planned weekly. For comparison, a year ago there were about 700 flights,” the expert explained.
Gorin also noted the stabilization of air travel prices: if last year in May tickets to Turkey cost 100 thousand rubles, now there are offers from 20 thousand.
Other popular outbound tourism destinations are the UAE, Thailand, and Egypt. There are also Sri Lanka, Maldives and Seychelles, the closest neighbors, for example, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
