Exit poll: Poland's ruling party does not win a majority of seats in parliament

Poland’s ruling conservative Law and Justice party of Jaroslaw Kaczynski does not win a majority of seats in parliament for the first time in 8 years. This is evidenced by exit poll data, cited by Telewizja Polska (TVP).

Preliminarily, 36.8% of voters voted for the party. PiS is leading in the elections, but this result will not allow it to take more than half of the seats in parliament. The party can only get about 200 out of 460. Kaczynski will have to look for partners to form a coalition.

Second place goes to Donald Tusk’s liberal Civic Coalition with a score of 31.6%. Potentially, the coalition could become a partner with the Third Way party, which tentatively gains 13%. At the same time, Tusk has already stated that Law and Justice has been removed from power and that “democracy has won.”
