Former Secretary General of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Nicole Resch was acquitted in a corruption case that has been under investigation since 2018, the portal reports. ski-nordique.net. “The prosecution considered all the allegations to be false and did not press any charges. The IBU did not require the continuation of the procedure, so the procedure is finally closed, ”added the lawyer.
Nicole Resch joined the IBU in 2007, a year later she became the organization’s Secretary General. After an investigation was launched against her, she resigned. Together with Ms. Resch, former IBU President Anders Besseberg was involved in the case.
It was alleged that in the period from 2012 to 2017, for bribes in the amount of $ 300 thousand from interested parties, they hid doping violations. In April 2023, Mr. Besseberg was charged with corruption on an especially large scale. According to investigators, he accepted gifts, including expensive watches and prostitutes.
