Ex-owner of SU-155 Balakin arrested in absentia by Moscow court

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow on Wednesday arrested Mikhail Balakin, the former owner of the construction company SU-155, in absentia.
This was reported in court, explaining that Balakin is accused of abuse of power.
The investigator applied to the court with a petition – he asked to select Balakin as a measure of restraint in the criminal case, detention, in absentia.
Now the businessman is put on the international wanted list. He was also charged in absentia.
Balakin will be placed in a pre-trial detention center for 2 months when he is detained in Russia or extradited from abroad.
The construction company owned by Balakin was declared bankrupt in the spring of 2018 by a court decision. And in September of the same year, Balakin ran for mayor of the capital. However, he took the last place among all candidates, gaining 1.87% of the votes of Muscovites.
