Ex-MMA fighter Jeff Monson explained the refusal of US citizenship and the desire to spend the rest of his life in Russia.
Monson said he was absolutely ready to stay in Russia until the end of his days, and this is his long-term plan.
“I have two beautiful daughters and a wife here. I have a lot of things to do here before I die. I have 27 free schools for children open here all over Russia. My life in Russia! My goals are here too,” he said.
Earlier, Monson began the process of renunciation of US citizenship. Since 2018, the athlete has been living in Krasnogorsk and even became a municipal deputy. He has Russian citizenship. In addition to his work in the municipal council, where Monson is responsible for environmental issues, he also works with children. Jeff Monson opened his martial arts school in the Opalikha sports center. Children under 10 go there for free.
Monson, 51, is a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship winner. In addition, he is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion and a former Heavyweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The American with a Russian passport has 60 wins, 27 losses and one draw.
Earlier, he was also going to make a film about the atrocities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the inhabitants of Donbass. The film will be based on documentary footage from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as conversations with local residents.
