Marat Arustamov, the former deputy general director of JSC Center for the Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure (TsENKI) for Economics and Finance, was fully acquitted in a corruption case. The newspaper writes about it “Kommersant”.
Arustamov was sentenced in June 2022 to 9 years in a strict regime colony. He was found guilty of accepting a bribe from the Respect-SM construction company to finance its work at the Vostochny cosmodrome. The ex-deputy head of TsENKI allegedly wanted to receive 3 million rubles from the company before it received 200 million rubles in advance for the work.
The verdict was appealed by both parties – the defense insisted that the manager was innocent, and the prosecutor’s office wanted to add a fine to the punishment and prohibit Arustamov from working in government agencies after his release.
The defense assured the court that there was no corpus delicti. Arustamov did not admit his guilt, he stated that the general director of Respekt-SM LLC Alik Aleksanyan and the intermediary slandered him.
As a result, the Second Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction rejected the submission of the prosecutor’s office on the decision of the Moscow City Court, by which Arustamov was fully acquitted and released from custody.
