Former Ambassador of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) to Russia Rodion Miroshnik has received the post of “Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the crimes of the Kiev regime,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. According to her, this post was created on the initiative of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“A well-known statesman and public figure, a former ambassador of the Luhansk People’s Republic in Russia, a member of the contact group for resolving the conflict in Donbass, Rodion Miroshnik, has been appointed ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime,” Ms. Zakharova said during her briefing. According to her, the order to create a new position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and appoint Mr. Miroshnik to it has already been signed by Sergey Lavrov.
As Maria Zakharova explained, the duties of Rodion Miroshnik will include interaction on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry with other federal and regional authorities that collect, summarize information, and legally assess the crimes of Ukraine. In addition, Mr. Miroshnik will also prepare special reports on the most resonant “crimes committed by Ukraine during the military conflict against the civilian population, Russian prisoners of war and Orthodox priests.”
Rodion Miroshnik served as Ambassador of the LPR to Russia from May 6 to October 4, 2022. On October 4 last year, he took up the post of representative of the LPR in the Russian Federation. On November 9, 2022, he was removed from this post due to the fact that the Luhansk People’s Republic was included in Russia.
