A review of the habits of Runet users was conducted by a Russian-language Internet portal. This is how specialists celebrated the 29th anniversary of the appearance in the country of the first site with the domain name “ru”. He appeared on April 7, 1994.
In honor of the anniversary, a survey was conducted among the Russian audience (its total number, according to data for 2022, exceeded 100 million people) about Internet habits. The survey involved 12.5 thousand people, most of whom are men. Almost 38% of the respondents turned out to be residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, the rest – residents of regional centers and large cities.
It turned out that in total, including the time for work tasks, activity in social networks and entertainment, 46% of Russians spend on the Web from two to five hours a day. 29% of respondents admitted that they use the Internet and even more – from five to ten hours.
Using the Internet for less than two hours a day, the organizers of the issue attributed to the digital detox. It turned out that only 11% of Russians practice it.
Computers and laptops turned out to be the main devices for accessing the network; 62% of respondents use them. A smartphone was preferred by 36%, and a tablet by only 2%.
What do our citizens do most of all on the Internet? They put news reading in the first place (43%), while 54% admitted that they cannot imagine their usual day without news reports at all.
Dependence on social networks (“can’t live a day without them”) was recognized by 23% of respondents, and 20% noted checking email and working with the task scheduler as the most frequent scenarios.
Next in terms of popularity were online shopping (2.4%) and study (1.9%).
As for the duration of using the Runet, 45% of respondents reported that they use it from 10 to 20 years, another 42% – more than 20 years. Less than a year ago, only 0.76% of Russians met him.
