More than 70% of Russians regularly throw out expired products. Products with an expiring shelf life are treated similarly by 14%, showed study analytical center NAFI. Most of the respondents, when they find products with an expiring shelf life in the refrigerator, try to cook something from them first or give them to pets. At the same time, every fourth Russian prefers to buy such products. Many do it for economy (because of the reduced price) or for reasons of environmental responsibility.
According to NAFI experts, in relation to products with borderline expiration dates, Russians generally demonstrate responsible consumption and a high level of consumer literacy. Russians of retirement and pre-retirement age are more careful about products, and women throw them away twice as often as men.
