Every business must comply with fire safety regulations.

Manufacturing enterprises of the capital fall under a large list of documents that present requirements for creating comfortable conditions for workers. One of these documents is the fire safety rules at the enterprise. Unfortunately, not all owners attach special importance to it, which often leads to tragic situations.

But fire safety is a guarantee that people will not die at the plant or at the company, production will not suffer. Of course, subject to compliance with all the requirements and rules of this document. It is not enough to draw up an evacuation plan and buy fire extinguishers in order for fire safety in the workplace to be effective. It is necessary to carry out a set of measures that will help reduce the risk of fire.

A special event for the press was held at the capital’s furniture factory, during which Vialina Dmitrieva, Senior Engineer of the 2nd RONPR of the Directorate of the SAO of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for Moscow, spoke about the operation of the new fire protection system and how checks are carried out at such a complex enterprise. The journalists were able to get acquainted with the modern system of fire protection of furniture production. Given the ease of ignition of wood waste, raw materials, finished products, the high rate of fire spread, special attention should be paid to ensuring fire safety at all objects of carpentry and furniture production.

This facility, a furniture factory, belongs to the high fire risk category and is equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system, a fire alarm system, a warning and evacuation control system, and an internal fire water supply.

Also, the building is equipped with the latest fire alarm system and warning and evacuation management. The factory building is equipped with an internal fire water supply: these are external fire water supply networks with underground fire hydrants mounted on main, dead-end pipelines, designed for the installation of special fire vehicles. The fire water supply system of industrial buildings includes the placement of internal fire hydrants on the floors, equipped with shut-off valves, fire pressure hoses, trunks for prompt water supply to fire sites.

Daily activities to maintain the proper fire regime of any enterprise, office, warehouse or store are:

— Strict control by the administration responsible for the safety and security of compliance with the smoking regime;

– Exclusion of blocking fire gates, doors for ease of use of openings for passage, transportation of raw materials, finished products. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of evacuation routes, exits, in order to exclude their blockage, and it is also necessary to ensure the possibility of free opening of doors without the help of keys;

– Automatic fire alarm installations with the installation of smoke detectors, thermal, gas fire detectors, as well as smoke removal systems, fresh air supply to rooms along the evacuation routes;

– Control over compliance by employees with the technological process of production, thorough cleaning of workplaces, premises of sites, workshops from wood, other combustible waste, unused during the change of paint and varnish residues, solvents;

– Inspection of primary fire extinguishing equipment stored in fire cabinets, on boards for completeness, absence of mechanical damage.

Without an integrated approach to the issues of ensuring fire safety at such potentially fire hazardous facilities, which are furniture, joinery, it is difficult to exclude the possibility of a fire, the development of a fire, causing significant material damage, and other serious consequences. Each employee must know how to behave in case of fire: when and how to try to extinguish, when and where to evacuate. Every year, dozens of fires occur in furniture factories, because of which production and people suffer, and the business loses money and reputation. To eliminate these causes, it is necessary to fulfill the fire safety requirements for the premises and oblige all employees to strictly observe safety rules.
