European and Russian diving champion Svetlana Timoshinina was deceived by the fake president of the Russian Diving Federation. The fraudster instructed the athlete to follow all instructions from the “FSB officers.” This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel.
The scammers attacked the swimmer on September 27. The girl received an SMS supposedly from the president of the Diving Federation, Stanislav Druzhinin. He wrote that a curator would soon contact Svetlana, whose instructions the girl must strictly follow. After which Svetlana received a call from a certain Maxim Degtyarev and said that the attackers had gained access to the athlete’s money, so she should urgently withdraw the funds and transfer them to a secure account.
The victim of the scammers immediately took a taxi to the bank. Upon arrival, the girl withdrew a decent amount, which she then gave to the “special agent.” The scammers warned about the secret status of the operation being carried out and even came up with a special password “key fob” for plausibility. The courier on the electric scooter told Svetlana this code when he picked up the cash.
It later turned out that Stanislav Druzhinin did not send any messages to Timoshinina.
