The European Union has rejected Britain’s attempts to conclude an agreement to combat migration across the English Channel. The newspaper reports Times with reference to documentary evidence of the negotiations.

According to the publication, in the summer there was a meeting between the head of the administration of the President of the European Commission, Bjorn Seibert, and British Prime Minister for National Security Tim Barrow. At it, the representative of the United Kingdom was given to understand that the EU is not interested in signing a document on the readmission of migrants.

The reason for the rejection of the proposals of the UK was the implementation of migration reforms in the EU. European officials intend to achieve a more equitable distribution of migrants across the EU countries.
