EU imposes sanctions against State Duma deputies Polyakova and Tkachev

The European Union has expanded the personal sanctions list to include State Duma deputies Alla Polyakova and Anton Tkachev, as well as member of the Federation Council Valery Ponomarev. Information about it appeared in the official journal of the European Union.
It is noted that the decision comes into force from the moment of publication of the document. The reason for the inclusion of Polyakova and Tkachev in the sanctions list was the actions of the deputies, “undermining the sovereignty of Ukraine.” The EU explained that Polyakova and Tkachev voted for the State Duma’s appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the DPR and LPR.
Ponomarev fell under sanctions due to the fact that he supported the ratification of agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual support with the DPR and LPR.
After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia, which, among other things, affected individuals, companies and organizations. In total, personal sanctions in Ukraine have already affected more than 1,000 individuals and about 100 organizations. Russian politicians, civil servants, media representatives, businessmen and heads of large companies fell under the restrictions.
The last time the EU imposed personal sanctions was at the end of July. The restrictive measures also affected First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Andrei Belousov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, President of the Night Wolves motorcycle club Alexander Zaldostanov (Surgeon) and others.
