EU foreign ministers supported sending income from Russian assets to Kyiv for weapons

Foreign ministers of EU member states supported the use of proceeds from frozen Russian assets to supply weapons to Ukraine. This statement was made on Monday, March 18, by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The head of European diplomacy clarified that we are talking about fundamental support for such an option, but making a final decision on this issue has been postponed for now.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a joint press conference with the leaders of France and Poland that income from frozen Russian assets will be used to buy weapons for Ukraine. However, the German politician did not provide any details on this topic.
The Financial Times, citing European officials, wrote that by July the EU could send Kyiv 2–3 billion euros in profits from Russia’s frozen assets. Moscow warns the West against such a step, warning of consequences.
