EU countries have doubled the use of gas from storage
[ad_1]
As of the morning of January 6, European underground gas storage facilities (UGS) were 83.24% full, according to data Gas Infrastructure Europe. The day before, storage facilities were 83.35% full, which, when compared with last year’s figures (when UGSFs were only 52.12% full with withdrawals of 0.38%), indicates an approximately twofold increase in gas withdrawals.
In the first three days of January this year, the volume of gas injected into UGS facilities exceeded the withdrawal level, which also happened against the backdrop of an increase in wind energy generation. Today, January 7, according to Wind Europethe volume of electricity generation at wind farms is also at a relatively high level – 22.2%.
At the beginning of 2023 on European exchanges fixed the lowest gas price in the EU countries. European importers are also increasing supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG): Germany’s first own LNG terminal has started operating. At the same time, Gazprom sharply lowered pumping gas to Europe through Ukraine.
