The ambassadors of the EU countries were unable to agree on the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, transmits Reuters, citing two diplomats.
“There are several outstanding issues, including on rubber and reporting obligations,” one of the sources said. Another diplomat assured that an agreement would be reached tomorrow, February 23.
The agency notes that due to “opposition” from countries such as Hungary, Bulgaria, France and Belgium, the EU will not yet limit cooperation with the Russian nuclear industry or stop diamond imports.
Against the backdrop of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, the EU has already adopted nine packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Restrictions have affected many sectors of the economy, including energy, high-tech sector, aviation, banking and mining, automotive, etc.
On January 17, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the tenth package of sanctions against Russia. According to her, it contains trade restrictions on supplies of 11 billion euros.
