Ethiopian Tsegay set a new world record in the 5 thousand meters race

Ethiopian track and field star Gudaf Tsegay set a new world record in the 5,000m at the Diamond League finals in Oregon, USA.
She managed to finish with a result of 14 minutes 0.21 seconds. This achievement not only earned her a Diamond League gold medal, but also made her the new world record holder for this distance. The previous record, 14 minutes 5.20 seconds, belonged to Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon and was set just a few months ago, on June 9 this year.
Gudaf Tsegay, now 26 years old, is a bronze medalist in the 5,000 meters at the Tokyo Olympics. This year the athlete became the world champion in running at a distance of 10,000 meters, last year – at a distance of 5,000 meters.
