An Estonian online platform for collecting money from Ukraine was suspected of misappropriating a large sum of money, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the portal of the Estonian state broadcaster ERR.
The platform reportedly raised funds for drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but its operator came under suspicion from local law enforcement. Thus, the non-profit association “Institute of Infographics and Ergonomics”, together with its only member of the board, are suspected of embezzling significant funds. The exact amount is not stated, it is only indicated that it belongs to the “especially large” category. Other details of the story have not been disclosed.
The report says that the platform was raising money to purchase 21 drones from the Estonian company Threod Systems and send them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. About 4 thousand people donated their funds to the platform, among them Estonian parliamentarians. However, the money never reached the addressee.
