The Estonian authorities are considering the issue of banning entry into the country for most citizens of the Russian Federation in the coming days or weeks. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Urmas Reinsalu.
As Reinsalu noted, Tallinn is preparing this measure together with Riga and Vilnius. He noted that entry would be prohibited regardless of where Schengen visas were issued – in third countries or in Estonia itself.
The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry also stressed that the decision on the issuance of visas will be developed regardless of the decision of the European Union. The entry ban will be imposed for reasons of national security. In addition, Estonia will restrict border crossing for Russians with visas from other EU countries.
