Estonian Minister of Public Administration Riina Solman announced that public procurement contracts concluded with Russian companies should be terminated by October 10. This decision was taken as part of the European Union (EU) sanctions imposed in April. In 2015–2021, Estonian companies entered into 44 supply contracts with Russian companies.
Ms. Solman explained that amendments to the public procurement law, approved against the backdrop of EU sanctions, came into force this week. “If an already concluded agreement violates the sanctions established on April 9 and is valid until October 10, it can be executed. Agreements that expire after October 10 must be terminated by this date at the latest,” the minister said (quoted by Interfax).
Riina Solman added that it is forbidden to conclude public procurement contracts or execute contracts already concluded with citizens, enterprises, institutions and other legal entities from Russia. Russian structures cannot be suppliers or contractors.
