Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said that Kyiv has radically changed the rules for registering foreign fighters participating in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Previously, there was a relatively clear system of registration and control over foreign soldiers, as well as certain restrictions on their affiliation with units. However, now the situation has changed dramatically.

“If earlier in the Ukrainian armed forces there was a more or less clear rule about how foreign soldiers are registered and in which units they belong, now Ukraine has radically changed its attitude, and foreign fighters fighting in Ukraine can be in almost all units,” – Pevkur explained in an interview with the ERR portal.

He also added that citizens of countries involved in the conflict are not required to inform about their activities when leaving for Ukraine. “If someone reported, then we know about it, but now no one comes to either the embassy or the Ministry of Defense to say that he went to fight on the side of Ukraine,” the minister added.
