The Estonian Cabinet of Ministers during a meeting on Thursday, September 29, decided to introduce mandatory national sanctions on Russian gas from January 1. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Urmas Reinsalu.
“From January 1 or until the end of this year, Estonia will introduce a legally binding national sanction on Russian gas,” he said.
Reinsalu recalled that the Estonian authorities expressed their principled desire to abandon Russian gas back in the spring.
The minister added that the European Commission, meanwhile, came up with an initiative to introduce a “ceiling” on oil prices, having coordinated this decision with the G7.
