Information about the strongest earthquakes on Earth in connection with the approaching supermoon is unreliable. This statement was made by the chief researcher of the Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Kosobokov, he is quoted by URA.RU.
The expert clarified that during the supermoon, the natural satellite of the planet causes lunar tides more intense than usual.
“At the same time, our studies have shown that there are no preferred dates for the strongest earthquakes. Therefore, nothing special … should be expected in the coming days,” Vladimir Kosobokov concluded.
According to some reports, the supermoon on August 31 was supposed to cause powerful earthquakes. However, this information turned out to be false.
