“It took you a while to adjust to the 12.14 update?
I think we were late in defining the good ones picks meta, especially on the Sivir and Zeri. But this week I think we fixed those issues and since playing better on 12.14 our matches have become more stable in practice and on stage. But it’s something you really have to be careful of before the play offs because it was a problem for ourselves in the spring. Our loss against G2 Esports (in the final of the previous segment) was largely due to this priority of picks.

How did the mood evolve at Snape over the superweek (from Friday to Sunday)?
The atmosphere was good, because our training went better than the week before, we improved little by little. This was the case after our game against Excel (last friday victory) because we had the right approach. As for our defeat against BDS (the day after), I don’t think we underestimated them but we kinda gave up after our bad dive top. And after that, there was more tension in the team because the next match against Vitality had a lot at stake on the seeding of the play offsespecially after this defeat against BDS which we did not expect.

Why was the LEC standings so tight this summer, in your opinion?
This segment was tight not because everyone is very good, but because it does not necessarily reflect their performance. A lot of teams struggled to be consistent, which resulted in this neck and neck in the standings. In the Top 6, there are teams that are much better despite their score. Today I think G2 Esports is the first to have solved these problems and which are very regular, that they have found their recipe for victory… while others are still at the experimental stage. The play offs will be interesting since several teams are still trying to solve this problem.

This has been reinforced this season by the number of Rift updates?
Most teams that have this issue can’t adapt to the meta quickly enough about the changes to Rift Herald and Dragons. Our team was among the first to agree to drop the Herald more often because it gave much less gold compared to Turret Plates. And now, with the neutral objectives that received buffsit was necessary to change its macro games to adapt to these key moments. The third drake is more difficult to eliminate so you have to maneuver around it more efficiently to be sure of having it… I think that some teams have taken a long time to understand which approach to choose for this type of situation.

The ranking does not necessarily reflect the general performance of the teams in training?
No, it’s rare. There have been plenty of cases, and even again this year, where you can lose more than 20 training games during the week and still go 2-0 on stage. It depends on whether the teams want to experiment with new strategies in training or not. Some are willing to lose all their games in a week if it’s to optimize certain aspects of their game. Conversely, a team that wins almost all of its practices over several weeks, in general, will move up the rankings.

What is your individual regular season record?
I’m pretty happy with it, even if the team struggled to be consistent and I may have looked less strong in the match compared to the last segment. In the summer, I think I had two bad parts that did not satisfy me but compared to the spring, I got better. There is a fine line between the image that the team gives to the player and its opposite. When it was difficult to be consistent, it was reflected in my performance in matches. But I think I played well and I’m one of the best toplaners.

Are you going to change your preparation for the play offs ?
No, I do not think so. Maybe we’ll experiment with some compositions to have more diversity in our picksbecause it’s important to have more than one weapon to use in a best-of-five. Other than that, there will be no changes. Personally, I always look forward to playing best-of-fivesI would like to do more, since it always better reflects the performance of a team.

Once again, you are closing in on the LEC trophy, after several losing finals.
I don’t like to think too much about the title, I’m going to keep my head on my shoulders and work on our mistakes to correct them before the next matches, so that whatever happens, I can say to myself: I did everything that I could. Time will tell. If we win, it will mean that as a team and as players, we will have done everything necessary. If this is not the case, it is that somewhere, in a certain way, I will have made mistakes.

Do you think you are less recognized as toplane because of the absence of titles in your career?
Yes, definitely. It may sound self-centered, but I think I’m one of the best toplaners of the history of Europe, or even of the West including North America. But I feel like if I don’t win no trophyI will never be put in the category of all these toplaners who will always have more light on them by having this title under their name. For me, it will always be a fight, even if the predictions are no longer in my favor today! I think I’m one of the good guys, but not having a trophy will always impact what the community of LoL will remember me over time.

Each season, however, you continue to shine. Where do you find this motivation?
I love competition above all else. I’m happy because of that, even in defeat. Every year, I feel that I am always closer to the trophy. Pursuing this goal is always a motivation. »
