Eskom CEO de Ruyter survives drinking coffee with cyanide

André de Ruyter, chief executive of South African state-owned energy company Eskom, said he survived an attempt to poison him with cyanide.
According to Minister Pravin Gordhan, who oversees state-owned companies, de Ruyter reported the poisoning to the police. He received the poisoned coffee the day after he applied for his resignation from the state monopoly, which, among other things, was justified by “unbridled bribery” in the company.
The assassination attempt will be thoroughly investigated, said Gordhan, cited by ft.com.
