Erdogan shames election rival for attacks on Russia

Attacks on Russia and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are unacceptable. This statement was made on Friday, May 12, by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The politician recalled that Kemal Kilicdaroglu, a Turkish presidential candidate from the opposition People’s Alliance, allowed himself critical statements and accusations against Russia.
Erdogan stressed that he cannot allow this, because “our relations with Russia are no less important than with Washington.”
Earlier, Erdogan’s main rival in the Turkish presidential elections, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, said that he had evidence of the Russian side’s involvement in the dissemination of false information about candidates ahead of the May 14 vote. Erdogan responded by shaming Kılıçdaroğlu, noting that “Mr. Kemal began to tease Russia”.
At the same time, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that not going to sever relations with Russia in case of victory in the presidential election. He also promised to promote his peace initiative to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
