The conflict in Ukraine will last a long time and will not end anytime soon. This opinion was expressed to an American television channel PBS Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish leader believes that the conflict will continue for a long time. However, Vladimir Putin is in favor of its speedy completion.

“This is what he said, and I believe his words,” Erdogan explained. He also noted that he trusts Russia and Vladimir Putin no less than the West.

When asked about introducing anti-Russian sanctions, Erdogan replied that he is not obliged to do what EU and NATO members are doing because of Turkey’s different position in the world. He called Russia his closest neighbor, with whom Turkey has a common history.
