Turkey is awaiting the next US move regarding the sale of F-16 fighter jets following the ratification of Sweden’s bid to join NATO. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, writes Reuters.

Erdogan noted that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is actively interacting with his American counterpart, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on this issue.

The Turkish President emphasized that the country expects steps from the United States and expressed hope for continued dialogue and cooperation.

Earlier, American President Joe Biden asked Congress to quickly approve the sale of F-16 aircraft to Turkey. It is noted that since the beginning of 2021, Turkey has sought to acquire 40 fighter jets and 79 kits to modernize its military fleet.
