In several cities in Western Siberia, authorities recommend residents not to conduct traditional Epiphany bathing. The reasons were the state of ice on water bodies and the epidemiological situation.

Department of Public Safety of the Omsk City Hall informedthat it is not recommended to equip fonts on the territory of the city. The department, referring to the data of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Omsk region, indicated that the ice this year on the Irtysh turned out to be loose, so swimming was recognized as dangerous.

A similar situation has developed in the city of Strezhevoy in the northwest of the Tomsk region. There, traditionally, the ceremony takes place on Lake Okunevoe. “When clearing the passage from snow, we encountered the fact that water on the ice began to rise. The representative of GIMS, who participated in the preparation of the territory for the event, decided to ban bathing.
