Environmental activists almost disrupted the speech of the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS) Jerome Powell at the IMF conference in Washington, RIA Novosti reports.

After Powell began his speech, several environmental activists ran onto the stage and began chanting calls for an end to traditional carbon-based energy sources. They also brought a banner on stage that read “climate disaster.”

After the start of the action of environmental activists, Powell, as well as First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF Gita Gopinath and the head of the Central Bank of Israel Amir Yaron, who were present on the stage, were forced to leave, accompanied by security.

Subsequently, security escorted the environmental activists from the stage, and the event continued.
