The indices of entrepreneurial confidence determined by Rosstat (4.3 thousand organizations were surveyed) moved in different directions in August: in processing, the indicator grew, as in the previous month, in production, it decreased after July stabilization. In manufacturing industries, the index was minus 2% after minus 2.7% in July and minus 3% in June, in extractive industries – minus 1% after minus 0.3% in July and June. In general, both indices are noticeably lower than the February values (then – more than plus 2%). At the same time, they are significantly higher than the lows of the “covid” 2020, when the index fell below minus 8% in processing, and up to minus 6% in production.
According to Rosstat, in August, 10% of those working in mining considered the economic situation in their organization to be favorable, and 75% considered it to be satisfactory. In manufacturing, this ratio is 10% and 73%, respectively. Improvements in the situation in the next six months in production are expected by 16% of respondents, in processing – 21%.
According to another study, also published yesterday – on the composite index of the business environment from the RSSP, the state of the business climate in Russia improved somewhat in August. Last month, the value of the indicator was 44.4 points against 40.1 points in July. In August, the share of companies that noted that purchase prices did not grow over the month increased significantly. Thanks to this, for the first time since October 2020, the indicator characterizing inflation rose above 20 points, to a value of 22.6 points (plus 9.5 points immediately). At the same time, the growth in sales prices slowed down – the value of this indicator (53.9 points) in August turned out to be 3.4 points lower than in July.
60% of surveyed companies called the demand for their products or services stable. A fifth of respondents said that demand in their industry increased in August, a quarter of companies felt that interest in their products or services had increased. A month ago, the situation with demand looked worse, the RSPP notes. Entrepreneurial assessments of the current state of the business environment have also slightly improved. The value of the index of personal assessments of the business climate in August was equal to 38.6 points. Two-thirds of the respondents did not see any changes in the state of the business environment, 29% of those surveyed believed that the business climate in the country was deteriorating (36.8% thought so in July).
