Football clubs in England have failed to achieve “racial diversity”, according to Sky Sports, citing a report from the Football Association of England.
The Code of Diversity in Football Governance in England was adopted in 2020, with all Premier League clubs and 32 clubs in the English Football League joining. The purpose of the Code is to increase equality of opportunity and encourage the fight against racial inequality in senior management and coaching staffs.
As noted in the report, the FA, the Premier League and the Football League performed well and exceeded seven out of eight targets. But the clubs have failed, and some are seeing a decline in the number of female employees, as well as blacks and Asians.
Reportedly, only 10.3% of candidates hired for club management positions were black, Asian or mixed, below the target of 15%.
In terms of English club managers, only 15.6% were black, Asian or mixed, below the target of 25%.
