England beat Iran 6-2 in World Cup 2022

The match between the teams of England and Iran ended with the score 6:2. This is the second group stage game of the FIFA World Cup held in Qatar and the first Group B match. It was played at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
In the eighth minute of the game, Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand suffered a head injury. He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and was replaced by goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini in the 19th minute. In the 35th minute, English footballer Jude Bellingham scored the first goal of the match. In the 43rd minute, Bukayo Saka extended the lead after scoring a goal from Harry Maguire’s rebate. England took a 3-0 lead in the 45th minute thanks to a Raheem Sterling goal. By the first half, a team of referees led by Rafael Klaus added 14 minutes. In the first half, due to Beiranvand’s injury, the pause in the game stretched for 11 minutes.
In the second half, the England team continued to score – in the 63rd minute, Saka scored a double. The Iranian national team scored its first goal in the 65th minute – Mehdi Taremi scored. In the 72nd minute, Marcus Rashford scored the fifth goal for England. Jack Grealish scored the sixth goal against Iran in the 89th minute. The referee added ten minutes of extra time to the second half. In the last minutes, a penalty was assigned to the gates of the English team – Taremi scored a double.
Iranian national team players didn’t sing national anthem before the match. Protests demanding regime change have been going on in the country for a month and a half.
The FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. Today, November 21, there will also be a match Senegal-Netherlands (19:00 Moscow time) and USA-Wales (22:00 Moscow time), which are rivals of England and Iran in group B.
