The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) again shelled the city of Enerhodar in the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporizhia region, killing at least three civilians, reported “RIA Novosti” with reference to the pro-Russian military-civilian administration of the city.
It is specified that one of the shells exploded a hundred meters from the kindergarten. Local Telegram channels report damage to the medical unit and a residential building.
Energodar is located near the largest nuclear power plant in Europe – Zaporozhye NPP (ZNPP). Since the beginning of the special operation, the city and the station have been repeatedly shelled by Ukraine, as reported by local authorities. Zaporozhye NPP and Energodar came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces in early March.
On Tuesday, a delegation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), headed by the director of the agency, Rafael Grossi, arrived in Kyiv, which is then to visit the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The day before they arrived to the Ukrainian-controlled city of Zaporozhye.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side is trying to disrupt the visit of experts to the Zaporozhye NPP, claims Russian Ministry of Defense. So, on Tuesday, according to the military, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continued provocations throughout the day aimed at disrupting the work of the mission and creating a threat of a man-made disaster, one of the shells hit the complex of the station for the processing of solid radioactive waste. Yesterday, in the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) of the Zaporozhye region reported about the detention of an armed group of saboteurs who were preparing a terrorist act at a nuclear power plant.
Wednesday APU started to strike at the coastline of Energodar, including the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the VGA reported. In total, 23 strikes were recorded near the ZNPP during the day.
