Employment and unemployment in Moscow in August 2022

According to the data of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow, received by Mosstat, at the end of August 2022, 55.6 thousand citizens living in Moscow were registered in order to find suitable work.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2021, their number decreased by 7.2 percent.

The number of unemployed citizens amounted to 32.5 thousand people, of which 15.3 percent are citizens of pre-retirement age. This is almost 16 percent less than the end of August 2021.

Moststat calculates such an indicator as the level of officially registered unemployment – this is the ratio of the number of unemployed to the total number of economically active population. As of August 2022, this figure in the capital was 0.4 percent.

The number of unemployed citizens receiving unemployment benefits amounted to 19.9 thousand people. This is 21.4 percent less than in August 2021.

The need for workers declared by enterprises and organizations amounted to 132 thousand people. More than half of them (65.2 percent) are working professions.

According to employment centers, in August 2022, 13.9 thousand citizens asked for help in finding a suitable job. In August last year, there were 19.5 percent more such appeals. Also in August, 8.5 thousand people were deregistered due to employment.
