Embassy: in Latvia set to restrict access to education under the programs of the Russian Federation

Latvia is serious about restricting access to remote Russian educational programs recognized as “dangerous” for the West, declared Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Latvia.

Formerly local media reportedthat the head of the Ministry of Education, Andu Chakshu, was concerned about calls to study foreign education programs, in particular Russian ones, remotely. According to LETA, an assistant to a deputy from the Russian Union of Latvia has received proposals to Latvian parents to register their children in an online school at the university in St. Petersburg. Chakshu appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to evaluate such statements and, if a security threat is detected, to impose restrictions.

The Russian embassy said that they paid attention to the statements of Latvian officials.

“Swiftly cracking down on “Russian schools”, local fighters for the “ideological purity” of the education sector seem to be serious about restricting access to educational programs recognized as “dangerous” for the Western value system of coordinates,” the report says.

According to the embassy, ​​the fight against dissent in the republic is taking on “more and more unattractive forms,” and the question of how such a policy of “virtually total censorship” correlates with the status of a European constitutional state remains open.
