Elena Chaikovskaya has been appointed head coach of the Russian national figure skating team

The Ministry of Sports of Russia approved Elena Chaikovskaya as the head coach of the Russian national figure skating team, reports “Match TV” with reference to the relevant document signed by Deputy Minister of Sports Alexei Morozov.
The previous coach of the national team was Alexander Gorshkov. He died November 17 at the age of 76. In December, the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation nominated Ms. Chaikovskaya for the post of head coach.
Elena Chaikovskaya is 83 years old. She is an Honored Art Worker of Russia. In 1957, she became the champion of the USSR in figure skating. From 1993 to 1997, she was the chairman of the coaching council of the Russian national figure skating team. At the world championships, her students won 11 gold medals.
