Elections of the governor of the Moscow region will be held on September 10

The deputies of the Moscow Regional Duma have scheduled the election of the governor of the region on September 10, reported press service of the regional parliament.

“The Moscow Regional Duma, during the 57th meeting, adopted a resolution on the appointment of the election of the governor of the Moscow Region on September 10,” the message says.

The Moscow Regional Duma reminded that the decision to call elections according to the law must be made no earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before the voting day (which will be held in Russia on September 10 this year). Candidates for the post of governor will have 20 days to submit the necessary documents to the Electoral Commission from the date of the official publication of the decision to call the elections.

Speaker of the regional parliament Igor Bryntsalov also noted that the remote electronic voting system (DEG) will be used in the region for the first time.

“It will be convenient and comfortable for citizens who, for one reason or another, will not be able to personally visit the polling station. As the approbation of this form in some regions has shown, this system is established and reliably protected,” he said.

Thanks to new technologies, young people are actively involved in the electoral process, so the Moscow Regional Duma expects a fairly high turnout.

Now the Moscow region is headed by Andrey Vorobyov, he was elected to the governor’s post of the head of the region twice – in 2013 and 2018. Prior to that, in 2012, the politician was appointed Acting Governor of the Moscow Region by presidential decree. In this post, he replaced the current Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu. June 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with Vorobyov, who again plans to participate in the elections, wished success. “If you have a desire and, most importantly, if people support you, then I wish you continued success,” he said then.

On June 7, the Moscow City Duma also scheduled the election of the mayor of the capital for September 10. Vedomosti, citing sources wrotethat the Moscow conference of “United Russia” intends to nominate Sobyanin as a candidate for the election of the head of the capital on June 9.
