Eksmo was fined 900 thousand rubles. for LGBT propaganda in the comic book “Dove Gennady”

The Zelenogradsky Court of Moscow fined the Eksmo publishing house 900 thousand rubles. under the article on propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations (Part 1, Article 6.21 of the Administrative Code). The maximum penalty for legal entities under it is a fine of up to 1 million rubles. or suspension of activities for up to 90 days.

As stated in the case file, the sentence was pronounced by judge Irina Pintelina. The second party indicated the Department of Internal Affairs for the Zelenograd administrative district of Moscow. The administrative protocol for the Eksmo publishing house was registered on December 19.

In the press service of the court reported “Kommersant” that the administrative materials refer to the comic book “Dove Gennady.” The inspection of the publishing house became known on November 3. The reason for drawing up the protocol, as the Telegram channel “Caution Media” wrote, was a monologue in a comic about the protagonist’s orientation. “Sometimes instincts take over Gennady. Pigeons do not always distinguish each other’s sexes. Therefore, Gennady prefers to think that he is pansexual,” the channel quoted from the book.

The comic book “Dove Gennady” is a continuation of the web comic created by Ukrainian artist Tatyana Koro in 2016. The book was first published in 2018 by the St. Petersburg publishing house KomFederatsiya, part of the Eksmo holding. The last edition in Russia was printed on January 21, 2022. On November 1, 2023, the publishing house “KomFederatsiya” announced the cessation of work.
