Ekaterina Guseva admitted in complexes: “It’s scarier to be yourself”

Actress Ekaterina Guseva is not a frequent guest of social events. You can even say that without a good reason to notice the actress at some movie premiere is almost impossible. Fortunately, there was such a reason: Guseva starred in a new Russian film and, of course, could not avoid the need to visit the red carpet. A bright fuchsia-colored floor-length dress hugged the perfect figure of a star. Well, those present were once again convinced that the years had no power over Guseva: she practically did not differ from the heroine of the Brigade, whom we all remember well. That evening, the actress showed unprecedented activity, was sweet and talkative. Usually Guseva rarely communicates with reporters, but she made an exception here, talking about the latest filming and the details of life off the set.

– My heroine in the film over the summer became different, became herself, freed herself from some of her complexes, self-doubt, problems, clamps, embarrassment, overcoming herself. She became herself, independent from society, from people who are nearby. She had her own personal opinion, she seemed to have just been born, and she is already 40+. That is, not just to grow and exist, but to make the world a better place. To do this, you need to start with yourself.

– Your heroine got rid of her complexes, but have you ever had complexes?

– Yes, and I think that the acting profession has saved me from some constraints and clamps. This moment, when I am not me, but someone, liberates. That is, I can be anyone and do anything. It’s scarier to be yourself: it’s exciting, more responsible.

As a child, for example, I was ashamed to say that I do not smoke, because everyone in the 10th and 11th grades smoked. Then suddenly something happened – and the intonation with which I uttered this phrase changed. I remember how I began to say: “I don’t smoke!” And then I changed, I remember it well.

– Was it such that you had to give up something in your life and start from scratch?

– I don’t remember such that I gave up everything and started from scratch. My first decision was to enter a theater university at the age of 17, I entered, but in general I somehow go with the flow.

– You have a lot of work, we all understand this, do you manage to find time for yourself?

The theater saves me. Because when I’m at the theater, I’m at home until five in the evening, and then there is the opportunity to do whatever I want: to be a wife, mother, woman. Cinema takes up to 12 hours a day, you are with strangers with whom you did not know before, but then got to know very closely, made friends. Cinema takes a lot of energy, theater replenishes. In this combination of cinema and theater, I can’t decide what I like more. I have a movie summer where I try to film during my holidays at the theater. Restoring my strength helps me rest with my family – to go somewhere with four or just to sleep. Daytime sleep replenishes strength.
