Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Nikolai Bulaev said that currently eight people have submitted documents to be nominated for the post of President of Russia in the 2024 elections.
He did not disclose the list of candidates for the post of head of state who submitted documents. In conversation with TASS Mr. Bulaev added that one of the applicants had previously been denied registration of a group of voters due to numerous violations in the submitted documents.
According to him, “in total, the Central Election Commission has so far notified 33 people of their intention to hold congresses of political parties and meetings of groups of voters to participate in the elections.” He recalled that candidates from parliamentary parties do not need to collect voter signatures, but candidates from non-parliamentary parties and self-nominated candidates must submit 100 thousand and 300 thousand signatures, respectively, to the CEC.
Voting in the presidential elections will take place over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024. The current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is running for election as a self-nominated candidate. Nikolai Kharitonov (from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Leonid Slutsky (from the LDPR), Vladislav Davankov (from New People), Boris Nadezhdin (from the Civil Initiative), Vladimir Mikhailov (from the Social Protection Party), Andrei Bogdanov (from the Russian Party of Freedom and Justice) and Sergei Baburin (from the Russian All-People’s Union).
