Egyptian guides extort Russians in a new way: they exploit the theme of NWO

The more Russians who have rested in Egypt, the more online tips on how not to fall for “Egyptian tricks” and not overpay for tourist services. In response, the locals do not get tired of inventing new ways to lure money from Russian tourists. Russian-speaking guides were especially successful in this.

We learned about the new inventions of the host in Egyptian resorts from those who have already experienced them.

The first thing that awaits a newly arrived tourist to the Red Sea is a meeting with a hotel guide. It is known that this “organizational meeting” is needed mainly to quickly sell excursions to fresh vacationers, until they find out that they are half the price in city travel agencies and on the Internet. Therefore, many do not come to meet the guide, preferring to arrange their leisure time on the spot on their own.

– By this they deprive hotel guides of earnings, – say the Russian-speaking employees of the city travel agency of Hurghada, where the same excursions are sold without hotel wrapping, which is almost a third cheaper. – Of course, the local partners of Russian travel agencies, who receive Russian tourists on the spot, are very unhappy. But they can neither forbid us to sell excursions to their guests, nor force guests to buy from them. But they have already figured out how to at least lure them to a meeting with a hotel guide, otherwise no one even comes.

Judging by the thematic chats, some tourists have already “checked out” the invention. For example, a group of Russians who visited Hurghada at the end of February were processed on the bus on the way from the airport to the hotel. Here is a story on the Web of one of the tourists: “The transfer guide, with a frightened look, began to tell that in Egypt, “security measures have changed in connection with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.” All Russian tourists who arrived in Egypt now need to meet with a hotel guide so that there are no problems during the return flight. The guide must take a photo of your voucher and hand it over to the police. If during the return flight, already at the airport, it turns out that the photo of the voucher was not transferred, you may have problems up to the point that they will not be allowed to leave Egypt. To prevent this from happening, be sure to see your hotel guide tomorrow.” The narrator did not believe this and did not go to the meeting – and she did not have any problems during the return flight. And others believed and went – and bought excursions 30% more expensive than those that, literally an hour later, they saw in Hurghada street travel agencies.

But buying a sightseeing trip without overpaying for it is half the battle. We still have to fight off the Egyptian Ostap Benders on the ground.

“The locals are shamelessly using the geopolitical agenda,” shares a Russian who recently observed such a “life hack”. – In Dahab, on the way to Blue Hole (Blue Hole – an underwater vertical cave 130 m deep, a mecca for divers – ed.), some smart people put up a barrier almost in the middle of the desert and stated that for Russians the fare was 100 pounds.

– But why specifically for the Russians?

– The fact of the matter is that these people said that, they say, it was not ordered to let citizens of the Russian Federation over this line at all, for their own safety. And they are allegedly ready to let them pass under their own responsibility for a bribe. Although there are “strategic waters, a submarine can surface and anything can happen to the Russians, so they need to be rewritten and guarded, which is worth a hundred pounds.” Nonsense, of course, but if you’re in a hurry, it’s easier to give the extortionists baksheesh (tip – ed.).

Guides who recruited a Russian group for a short trip from Sharm el-Sheikh to Israel also referred to the “top-secrecy of the operation.”

“They roll their eyes and say: they say, we understand that you, the Russians, do not need a stamp on entry into Israel now,” a tourist from Moscow shares. – But for only $100 per person, we will agree at the border crossing that the entry stamp will be put on a separate sheet of paper instead of your passport. And everyone has already climbed for their wallets. But one woman from the group had already traveled like this and at the last moment spoiled all the raspberries for the guides. She said that at the Israeli border everyone is given an entry stamp not in the passport, but in the loose leaf, this is the usual practice of Israel in relation to any foreigners.

– And what about the guides?

– A feature of the Egyptian guides is that water is like water off a duck’s back. He smiles and says, well, if you don’t want it, whatever you want. And then something new pops up. They try everything: it will work – it will not work. But when not they offer, but tourists try to find out something, it turns out that most guides know almost nothing, except for their own 2-3 routes.

Judging by the responses, the latest inventions of Egyptian guides vary only slightly from hotel to hotel. In one of the best hotels in Sharm, for example, all Russians, as soon as they landed on Egyptian soil, are told that those who do not come to meet with the hotel guide will not be “included in the free transfer lists” and will go to the return flight at their own expense . And in Luxor, compatriots watched a completely comical scene: the guides, in whose buses there were empty seats, tried to sell them to horseless sightseers for 500 pounds (about 1200 rubles) from the nose to Kena (a city in the Nile Valley, about 70 km from Luxor).

– They stood and touted: and who has a place in Russian buses, – eyewitnesses share. – Moreover, if you heard the Russian speech, then they said: better go to your bus, the Russians now better stick together, there are ill-wishers around. And if English or German, then they promised “1.5 hours alone with the Russians, you can ask them any questions.”
