Demand for additional education is growing in Russia; sales of courses have increased by 50% year-on-year. Analysts of the OFD Platform service came to this conclusion, the results of the study were reported by Forbes. We are talking about spending in all segments, in particular, advanced training courses, corporate and children’s additional education.
As Kommersant FM found out, businesses are also ready to invest in employee training. Companies either buy courses or organize their own and are sometimes willing to offer employees raises if they take additional programs.
Co-founder of the Bitrix24 service Sergey Ryzhikov: “We have an internal university, where we either invite teachers or draw up an individual training plan for employees. Moreover, such a program begins to operate from the moment a person joins the company. New managers especially need experience and knowledge in managing employees. They are good specialists, but the managers are still inexperienced. In any case, if a person successfully studies and develops, this will definitely affect his salary.”
Co-owner and vice president of Twiga Communication Karina Oganjanyan: “You are in some position, for example, an account manager, and are close to becoming an account director. In this case, in a conversation with the HR director, the task is usually discussed – to polish some skill. Then we give a very specific direction on what course to take. Sometimes an employee may choose a different one than we recommend, and this is normal. But very often we give fairly clear direction.”
Alexey Lokontsev, founder of the Topgun barbershop chain and the Colizeum e-sports arena chain: “I offered to all administrators who worked for me for more than three years to pay for any training of their choice. You could take these online courses during your free time at work. We do not prohibit people from developing. Education may not give any increase in money, but in any case it broadens a person’s horizons.”
According to Forbes interlocutors, the driver of the additional education segment was changes in the labor market, including the desire of specialists to gain skills in new areas, for example, in working with neural networks.
