Economist and founder of Movchan’s Group investment management group Andrey Movchan renounced Russian citizenship. He announced this himself on social networks. Andrey Movchan has been living in the UK since 2020.
“My dear, once beloved! I would not believe that this could happen to us. But it happened,” Mr. Movchan said on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
He attached a photo of a certificate from the Russian Embassy in the UK to the post. The decision to allow Andrei Movchan to renounce Russian citizenship is dated June 27.
Andrey Movchan left Russia in 2020. Now he lives in London. In the book “English Breakfast” he also spoke about the citizenship of Cyprus. According to Andrei Movchan, he and his family received a Cypriot passport in 2014.
In an interview with Forbes in 2022, Andrei Movchan said that he sees Russia’s current path as “some kind of hybrid between Iran and North Korea.”
