Economical and warm: gasification has reached the Arkhangelsk outback

In 2021, gasification began in the village of Yarensk, Lensky district, Arkhangelsk region.
Over three thousand people live there. Owners of private households on Kirpichnaya Street were among the first to receive blue fuel. At the end of 2022, the Church of All Saints in Yarensk will be supplied with gas. The stone church is a historical building. It was erected in the 60s of the 19th century. When the Soviets came to power, the temple was turned into a warehouse. Only in the 90s of the 20th century services began again in the monastery. Until now, the building has been supplied with heat using a stove. In November last year, about 200 meters of gas pipe were laid from the existing gas pipeline to the temple, gas-using and ventilation equipment was installed, and commissioning work was carried out.
– Not only do we regularly hold services, but the church also has a library and a Sunday school for adults and children. Our own natural gas boiler room will allow us to control the temperature in all rooms of the church, which is important both for ensuring the activities of the parish community and for preserving the interior church decoration,” said Archpriest Andrei Ermilov, rector of the Church of All Saints.
The normalized temperature conditions made it possible to carry out work on the installation of a new iconostasis at the end of January 2023.
Under the additional gasification program, blue fuel began to reach private households in Yarensk. Northerner Anatoly Selivanov says that the house used to be heated with a stove. It was necessary to constantly think about firewood, and, in addition, increased attention to compliance with fire safety regulations. Since Anatoly Evgenievich is an elderly man, it became difficult to cope with stove heating. Children helped take part in the gasification program.
“We live on the outskirts of the village, two kilometers away from us.” Just this year they gave us gas, life became better, they stopped lighting the stove,” says Anatoly Selivanov.
