Economic confidence index in Russia fell to zero

The index, which shows how Russians assess the economic situation in the country, fell by seven percentage points in the first week of August to zero. Relevant data published on the website of the research holding “Romir”.
At the same time, the holding notes that half of the respondents estimate the period of stabilization of the situation in the country within a year or more.
The index was first calculated in March, it was updated daily. Initially, it was negative, but grew steadily and in the second week of July for the first time showed a positive result – 11%. In the third week of July, it fell to minus 6%, in the fourth it rose to 7%, and then dropped to zero in the first week of August.
The economic confidence index is an indicator that represents a combination of Russians’ assessment of the current economic situation in the country and their expectations regarding the prospects for its development. The scores are calculated as the difference between positive and negative responses.
